Chocolate Bark Holiday Gift Idea

I always enjoy coming up with some fun and easy holiday gift ideas for our neighbors. They always involve food and some years I do a repeat of something I have done in the past because of the rave reviews. This holiday Pistachio Bread is a neighbor all-time favorite that I get requests for!

This year, I am planning to go with the near and dear to my heart favorite–chocolate bark.

Bless your neighbors, friends, family and teachers with this super easy chocolate bark. Perfect last minute gift idea, takes less than 10 minutes to make!

SUPPLY LIST:

CHOOSE YOUR TOPPING:

  • chopped pecans
  • chopped pretzels
  • heath toffee bits
  • melted Kraft caramel bits (with sea salt on top)

I decided to make a mixture of different kinds of chocolate bark. It’s SOOO easy.

Simply line a cookie sheet with wax paper (if you wet the cookie sheet just a bit, the wax paper won’t move around on you when you spread the chocolate).

Prep your bark toppings. I used chopped pecans, chopped pretzels, heath toffee bits and melted Kraft Caramel Bits with sea salt on top {be still my beating heart!}.

Grab a bag of milk chocolate chips and melt them in the microwave. Stir until smooth and pour out onto the wax paper. Add the toppings to each row of chocolate that you poured.

For the salted caramel topping: I used 1/4 cup caramel bits and 2 tsp. of water, placed in the microwave for 1 minute and then stirred until smooth. I drizzled over the chocolate and sprinkled with course sea salt.

Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until chocolate has hardened. Break into pieces.

I grabbed plastic containers (brand is Iris and the are 8x7x2) from Hobby Lobby..they are normally $3…but if you purchase when they are half off, it makes it affordable to grab a bunch. I have seen them at WalMart and Meijer too! You can even snag them at Amazon. Line it with some decorative candy paper (I used the Wilton brand you can find anywhere during the holiday season) and pop in your chocolate bark.

At the bottom of the post you can download and print out the label to add to the top. I attached with double sided tape, but I would imagine a few dots of glue would hold is just as well!

It’s that easy, your friends, neighbors and teachers will LOVE this yummy gift!

    1. The chocolate will be stable, but if you’re going with the usual bark fillings like nuts or dried fruits, those do last longer… candy (like crushed peppermint) will last a VERY long time, but things that might go stale if exposed to air like oreos or pretzels could be tricky.

I think the key is to store them in an air-tight container and keep them cool but not refrigerated or frozen.

      Good luck!
