Class Compliments-End of School Year Activity
Whether it’s big or small, everyone feels a bit better when they receive a compliment! For some, compliments roll off the tip of the tongue, for others, they are not natural.
Class Compliments
In school, there are many opportunities for kids to offer praise to each other, but given intentional opportunities gives even those who are not comfortable giving compliments a chance to do so.
Think of the possibilities–maybe after a student shares a project, others can give compliments about the job well done or maybe at the end of the school year, you can have a “Class Compliment Party” when each student must give a compliment to all the other students in the class. It’s a great chance to leave some nice kinds words and an autograph all at the same time.
Sometimes kids have a hard time thinking of compliments, and they just need a little inspiration. Give them this list of compliment starters:
- It was nice of you to…
- I think you…
- Thank you for…
- You are good at…
- I like the way you…
- Good job…
- You worked really hard at…
- I like the way you…
If you do the activity mid-year, have the students add the Class Compliments sheet to their Student Planner, so they can glance at it every so often.
